Hi, I’m Kathy! I’m a recently retired teacher with 33 years of experience in education and now the owner of Kathy’s Corner, a licensed after-school childcare program for Ridges Elementary students.

Teaching runs deep in my family, and working with kids has always been my passion. In addition to classroom teaching, I have experience in lifeguarding, swim instruction, and pool management, and I love helping kids build confidence and independence. I have had a very rewarding teaching career and have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful students and athletes.

In my new adventure, Kathy’s Corner- my priority is creating a safe, nurturing home environment where children can unwind after school, get homework time & support, and enjoy creative activities and play. With a small group setting, children receive individualized attention and develop meaningful friendships.

My goal is to provide dependable, personalized care for kids — and peace of mind for parents.

Family has always been important to me. I have 3 siblings, and although all of our kids are older now, we still make it a priority to spend time together on breaks, birthdays, holidays, etc. My husband is also a retired teacher, and we have four grandkids among our son & daughters-in-law. One of the blessings of Kathy’s Corner is that our grandson gets to come once or twice a week as one of our kiddos in care. Our daughter, Bella, will be a senior at Linfield University where she is majoring in Business & Marketing and is a member of the Linfield Dance Team. We have a dog and kitten who are bff’s and whom the kids love to play with. Petting Nikita, the Samoyed, is very calming, and the kids love playing with Millie the kitten too.

Lastly, I had to include a picture of Destiny, my Honda Odyssey. I knew when I decided to start Kathy’s Corner, that I eventually wanted to get another Odyssey. They are super safe, reliable, and easy to get kids in and out.
